1,485 Students/Community Members Impacted As one of the six Funds supported by the Foundation, it is our hope that our Champion Projects help the children and youth at ECS to: nurture their moral and spiritual development; develop their leadership and team-building skills; and to practice their Catholic social justice responsibilities.
St. Nicholas |CTF Social Justice Class
With this Champion Projects grant, students will visit sites such as high needs elementary schools, the Edmonton Food Bank, and a local senior housing complex, where they will volunteer and learn the value of community outreach. This project introduces students to local organizations that provide community assistance and shows them the importance of giving back whenever possible. Each location holds new experiences for St. Nicholas students, allowing them to enact social justice values in meaningful ways.
Father Michael McCaffery | McCaffery Coffee Champs
This project will act as a work study program for the WIN Senior Students at Father Michael McCaffery. WIN senior is a program designed to support high school students identified with mild to severe cognitive needs. These students will run a coffee shop for the school's staff, where they will calculate budget and profit, complete transactions, and fulfill orders, nurturing their social skills, work skills, and problem-solving abilities. This will impact the entire student population of FMM, as it will hopefully inspire all students to develop their own work skills and experience.
St. Elizabeth | Indoor and Outdoor Garden Club
This project will maintain and enhance the school's indoor gardening classroom where students grow vegetables using sustainable practices. Food such as lettuce and radishes are grown by two of the school's garden clubs. These crops benefit the school community as the bulk of it gets used in St. Elizabeth's food program which feeds over 50 in-need students. In the spring, Garden Club students will grow more vegetables and flowers through outdoor gardening, giving these students lifelong skills.
St. Matthew | Sensory Oasis
The goal of this project is to support St. Matthew's diverse array of learners, including students with autism, ADHD, behavioral challenges, and cerebral palsy. This grant will create an inclusive sensory space designed to meet the unique needs of all students, ensuring they can thrive both academically and socially. This space will feature resources tailored to support various sensory processing differences, including vision, hearing, tactile experiences, movement, and emotional regulation.
