Emily Rowan Music and Library Fund

​Emily Rowan (1925-2017) had a passion for music and great literature and she passed both on to her five children who all graduated from Edmonton Catholic Schools.  Raising her children alone after the death of her husband in 1969, she encouraged a love of learning and the pursuit of higher education and was proud of the accomplishments of all her children and her grandchildren.  Emily earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the age of 69 after she retired from her career in the medical records office of the Cross Cancer Institute. This was a particularly proud accomplishment as she was only able to go to school sporadically until the age of 12 because of responsibilities at her childhood home farm outside of Vilna, Alberta.  
The Emily Rowan Music and Library Endowment Fund will support schools in their music programs and libraries.  The fund will support schools who need help offering students the lifelong gift of musical appreciation and knowledge, and to promote reading and a love of literature.
